Water everywhere around you — just not in a bottle

On a long walk, a weekend under canvas or during a power cut at home, water is rarely the problem. Carrying it is. Every litre weighs a kilo, and the moment your bottles run dry you are standing beside a stream you would rather not touch. The SurvivalStraw changes that: it slips into a jacket pocket and comes along without you noticing it.

Why the SurvivalStraw earns its place in your pack

✅ Drink straight from the source: hold the straw in the water and sip — that is the whole routine.
✅ No power, no batteries: the filter works without batteries, without moving parts and without chemical agents.
✅ Fits your bottle: the threaded base screws onto bottles with a 28 mm neck — the standard size.
✅ A complete kit: extension tube, collapsible water pouch, backflush syringe and two carabiners are all in the pack.
✅ Always within reach: light enough for your rucksack, your car or your emergency kit, and small enough that you never think about it.

Why so many people already keep a SurvivalStraw to hand

So far 2,374 orders have gone out and 1,992 customers have left a review, together averaging 4.9 out of 5. Hikers, campers and anyone building an emergency kit at home reach for it for the same reason: it asks nothing of you until the day you need it. No plug socket, no manual. You drop it in your bag and forget about it, right up to the moment your bottles are empty and all you have is a stream. Say goodbye to hauling heavy bottles up every hill.

Make sure you have water, even when your bottle runs dry.

Carry the filter, not all the water

The kit fills a bottle or a pouch at the stream, so you set off with one bottle instead of three.

  • Fill, stand up, walk on
  • Unblock it on the spot
  • Carry one bottle, not three
Sanne V.

First walk out with one bottle instead of three. I top up at every stream now and I have stopped working out how much I have got left.

Thijs B.

I always started rationing halfway round. Now I drink when I am thirsty and fill up again at the next stream.

Martijn K.

My old straw was hard going, you really had to pull at it. With the tube and the pouch I just drink as I walk.

Lotte D.

The thing a plain straw could never do: bring water back. The pouch fills at the stream and comes to camp with me.

Bram H.

After a day of dark peaty water the flow slowed down. I backflushed it by the tent with the syringe from the box and it was fine again.

Anouk P.

It screws straight onto the bottles I already carry, so I did not have to buy anything else.

Joris M.

I run long loops and always carried either too much or too little. Now I take one bottle and plan my route past the water.

Why a straw beats three full bottles

Why a straw beats three full bottles

Every litre you carry weighs a kilo. With the SurvivalStraw you drink straight from the source or from the water pouch, and the only thing you carry is the filter.

One bottle out, the stream does the rest

The filter does not make your water lighter. It makes carrying it unnecessary, because you fill up where you are.

That is the whole routine. If you would rather stay upright, fit the extension tube. Afterwards you backflush the filter with the included syringe.

The questions walkers ask

Will it fit the bottle I already carry?
Yes, if the bottle has a standard 28 mm neck, which most supermarket bottles and many sports bottles do. The filter screws straight onto the thread, so the bottle in your pack becomes the clean side. The tube and pouch cover the times there is no bottle to hand.
Which water is this made for?
Clear running water on a UK hill: a stream, a burn, a spring. That is the water most walks pass, and it is exactly what this is built to filter. Viruses, seawater and farm run-off need a different class of kit altogether. You know what you are packing, and what it is for.
What happens when it clogs?
You push water back through it with the syringe that comes in the box, on the rock, and carry on. Silty and muddy water blocks a filter faster, so rinse it after a dark-water day and let it dry before it goes in the drawer.
My local water is fine. What do I need this for?
Most days you will not. It earns its place on the hot day when two litres runs out earlier than planned, and on the morning the tap at home is off with no warning. It lives in the pack the rest of the time and asks nothing of you.
What if it is not for me?
