It starts before the first bang

Your dog hears it long before you do. The air changes, something rumbles in the distance, and within a minute he is shaking behind the sofa or pacing from room to room without settling anywhere. You can stroke him and close the curtains, but the moment you let go it starts again. The CalmHood gives him something a hand cannot: steady, even pressure around his body that stays put, even when you leave the room.

Why the CalmHood earns its place

✅ Pressure that stays: the vest closes evenly around the chest and body, like an arm resting around your dog — and it does not let go when you step away.
✅ A collar with two settings: folded down at the neck when your dog wants his head free, or pulled up over the ears so his head is covered on the nights when things are going off outside.
✅ Right through the year: made from polyester, light enough to stay on indoors with the heating up and usable in any season.
✅ On in seconds: over the head at the front and hook-and-loop around the chest — no legs to thread and no wrestling with a frightened dog.
✅ Fitted to your dog: the hook-and-loop fastening lets you adjust the fit, across seven sizes from XS to XXXL — 3kg to 40kg.

Why so many owners keep one by the door

So far 8,154 orders have gone out and 1,366 customers have left a review, together averaging 4.8 out of 5. Anyone with a nervous dog knows the pattern: the first fireworks week of the year, the first storm of the summer, the drive to the vet. The same scene every time, and the same helpless feeling. A pressure vest does not stop the storm, and it does not work for every dog — but it gives your dog something to fall back on the moment it starts, and gives you something to do besides wait it out. Put it on before the first bang rather than after, so it is already there when he needs it.

Give your dog something to hold on to, before the next storm arrives.

Your hand can't stay there all evening. This can.

A snug vest wraps his chest and stays put when you get up. The collar pulls over his ears.

Yuki always crawls under the bench in the hallway when there are fireworks. In the second photo you can see the collar pulled right up over her ears and head. Like that she didn't sit there shaking, and a bit later she was asleep, like in the first photo.

Our Bella used to shake so hard in a thunderstorm that the sofa shook with her. Coat on as soon as it started rumbling, and after about fifteen minutes she was lying on her blanket. Still alert, but nothing like the panic we used to get.

Ruben S.

Normally Max paces round the house for hours when there's thunder. This time, coat on, he was asleep on the bed by the window after half an hour while it was still rumbling outside. I really didn't expect that.

Joost H.

Our whippet has had the lot: spray, calming chews, music on. Last New Year's Eve she hid under the bed for three hours. In last week's thunderstorm, with the coat on, she just stayed in the room with us. The high collar fits that long neck nicely.

Maaike R.

What I didn't expect: when I pick up the coat, Bo now comes over to me herself. Afterwards she likes to curl up on our bed in it. For such a tiny dog the XS is just right.

Tom W.

Rocky gets nervous as soon as he hears the car keys, because that usually means the vet. Now I put the coat on him in the kitchen before we go and he gets in the car more calmly. At the vet's he pants noticeably less.

A pressure vest for dogs that struggle with fireworks or thunder. A hook-and-loop fastening closes it evenly around the chest and body, so the pressure stays when you have to get up. The high collar pulls over the ears or folds back at the neck. It goes on over the head at the front — no legs to thread. Seven sizes, from 3 to 40 kilos.

Why a blanket or a cuddle is not enough

Why a blanket or a cuddle is not enough

A blanket stays on until your dog gets up, and a hand has to move away eventually. This vest stays around his body, even when he paces from room to room, and the collar goes up over his ears.

Something to do on the night you would otherwise just watch

It does not stop the fireworks. It gives your dog something to fall back on once they start.

It stays when your hand moves

Even pressure that does not let go.

The collar goes over the ears

Or folded back at the neck.

On in seconds

Over the head, velcro round the chest.

Nothing to swallow

No tablet, no dose, no timing.

Over the head, fasten, collar up

Over the head, fasten, collar up

That is all there is to it. No legs to thread, no wrestling with a frightened dog. Put it on before the first bang, so it is already there when he needs it.

The questions buyers ask

Will this work for my dog?
For some dogs yes and for others no, and nobody can tell you in advance which one yours is — that is what the thirty days are for. Put the vest on for the first time on a quiet evening, a few minutes at a time and with something your dog likes, so it is already familiar before the first bang. If your dog is clearly more unsettled with it on, take it off.
What does the vest actually do?
It closes evenly around the chest and body, like an arm that stays around your dog — also when you have to leave the room. The high collar pulls over the ears if your dog wants its head covered, or folds back at the neck. What it does not do is block sound: it has not been tested for that, so we do not claim it.
Why this one and not another pressure vest?
Two things: the collar that goes over the ears, and the fact that we do not shout percentages. We say nothing about other brands — they do their thing. What we add is sizing on chest, neck and back length, thirty days to change your mind, and an English-speaking customer service that answers when it does not work out.
Which size does my dog need?
Measure three things: the circumference of the chest, the circumference of the neck and the length of the back. All three are listed per size in the Specs tab, from XS for 3 to 5 kilos up to XXXL for 30 to 40 kilos. If your dog falls between two sizes, take the larger one — and if it still does not fit, you have thirty days to send it back.
And if it is not for your dog?
Then send it back within thirty days and you get your purchase amount returned. Email our English-speaking customer service at info@vandori.nl and we will sort it out together. Order well before 5 November and you have time to check the size and let your dog get used to it.
What does delivery cost?

Nothing. Delivery within the UK is free on every order, whatever its size.

When is my order shipped?

Order by 11pm and your order is processed the next working day. You get a tracking code as soon as the parcel is on its way.

Can I return my order?

Yes. You have thirty days to change your mind. If the product is not for you, send it back within that period and you get your money back.

How can I pay?

You pay by card, Google Pay or Shop Pay. The payment runs through Shopify's secure checkout.

How do I reach customer service?

Through the contact page in the menu, or by email at info@vandori.nl. Our English-speaking customer service answers on working days.
